Teaching
Teaching is fundamental to what we do as scholars because it allows us to disseminate scientifically-derived knowledge. I find this to be especially important for students who bring into class popularly held notions about entrepreneurship that contrast with science-based conclusions. I also firmly believe that students must experience the material in a practical way to really understand how it applies to their future career.
My goal is to offer students science-based knowledge in a practical manner that makes the information palatable to them.
Courses taught
Strategy Capstone Lab
-
Students assume a strategic view of organizations and integrate and apply material learned in their business courses to modern organizational problems and opportunities.
New Venture Design
-
Applied course which focuses on the creation, evaluation, development and launch readiness of a new business or social venture.
The Great Capstone Case Competition: This year, Mastercraft- the boating company - was our corporate client. Student teams had the semester to solve a real-time business problem and present solutions at the competition. Overall, 180 student teams competed.
I was so proud of my two student teams! They gave other teams a run for their money!
